Our Accommodation

Young People

We support young people aged between 16 and 25 by encouraging them to focus on their strengths and build positive support networks to achieve their aspirations, whether that is returning to education, finding meaningful work or making new friendships.

Our services specialise in supporting young people who are:

Transitioning to Independence

Our services for young people include Supported Housing Services, which provide a safe place for young people to live, learn and make the transition into independent adulthood.

We help the young people find and maintain their own independent accommodation.

We specialise in caring for those who have experienced or are experiencing the following challenges:

All support is tailored to each person’s individual needs, through a structured care and support plan, which uses the Young Person’s Star model to encourage each person to take control of their lives and work towards achieving their personal goals. Support is focused on eight areas:

Objectives

  1. Independence: One of the primary goals of supported living is to help young
people develop the skills necessary for independent living. This includes
learning to manage personal finances, maintain a home, prepare meals, and
    use public transportation.

  2. Education and Employment: Supported living accommodations should also
focus on educational and employment support. This includes providing
assistance with homework, offering advice about further education, or helping
    with job searches and applications.

  3. Social Skills and Relationships: These facilities can help young adults
develop social skills and build healthy relationships. This might include group
activities, opportunities to participate in community events, or training in
    communication and interpersonal skills.

  4. Health and Well-being: The physical and mental health of the residents is of
utmost importance. Programmes for regular physical activity, balanced diet,
and mental health support (like counselling or therapy services) should be
    included.

  5. Safety and Security: Providing a safe and secure environment for residents
is critical. This includes having appropriate safeguarding measures in place,
managing risks, and ensuring residents understand how to keep themselves
    safe.

  6. Life Skills Training: This includes teaching the young adults how to perform
tasks such as laundry, cleaning, cooking, shopping, budgeting, and personal
    hygiene.

  7. Rights and Responsibilities: Teaching the young adults about their rights
and responsibilities is also a major goal. They should be educated about their
right to privacy, dignity, and respect, as well as their responsibilities in
    communal living.

  8. Transition Support: Assisting the young adults in preparing for the transition
to entirely independent living, or to other suitable living arrangements as they
age out of the supported living program.

  9. Personal Development: Encouraging and facilitating personal growth,
exploring hobbies and interests, developing personal identities, and promoting
    self-confidence.

  10. Community Integration: Encouraging interaction with the wider community,
promoting understanding and acceptance, fostering involvement in community
activities, and aiding in the development of a network of community-based
    support.
